Music ~ Bob Jones University

I have always loved music.  I am passionate about it and have a hunger and desire to experience it in all forms and cultures.  Music is a very important part of the ministry of leading others to Christ.  It serves to prepare the hearts of those hearing the gospel and teachings of God’s word.  Music has the ability to bring the people together, and evokes emotion.  I have seen the power of music change lives, mend broken spirits and bring joy to the forgotten.  I am looking forward to developing the talent God has given me and allowing Him to use me in the ministry of music.  I plan to teach music in a Christian high school.  I want to teach others about music and its true purpose.  My greatest dream is to become a composer and write music for the entire world to hear.

Dance ~ Belhaven University

Rachel is the one scholarship recipient who was already a freshman in college at the time of her selection. She wrote in her application essay “What an amazing blessing and privilege it is to have the opportunity to point people to God through my dancing!…I thank God for the gift of dance and for every day He allows me to use my body as a tool to bring Him glory.” Rachel has been dancing since she was six years old and has taken her gifts to various venues in Texas and Mississippi. She has a particular interest in reaching out to children and thinks she might like to have her own teaching studio after her professional career comes to an end. She wrote in her closing essay statement “Wherever I end up going, I hope to lead by example and shine the light of Christ to those around me. I know that God’s plans are bigger than my own and I am looking forward to seeing His plans unfold.
